The Indian
Stammering Association and Noura Embabi invite you to a ten session theatrical writing
workshop designed to give voice to your journey. Using theater as a means for developing
personal narrative, this workshop offers tools to explore the compelling
complexity of being a person who stammers and the role the arts need to play in
representing that unique identity. Participants
will learn monologue writing and interpretive techniques that have been used
over the last decade both in America and internationally in the Places of Pilgrimage
workshop designed by American playwright Heather Raffo.
What is your
story? How does it relate to that of a
greater community that you identify with? Why is this story urgent and important now? How is it unique? How will you articulate it to a peer group? To your community at large?
Some benefits of attending this workshop:
- introspective writing and group sharing
- learning more about yourself
- bonding closely with other participants
- be part of a unique effort to increase awareness about stammering
- improvised acting
- working with actors
- In a few words...personal growth, advocacy, creativity!

Very good initiative. I wish to attend this amazing workshop.
Thanks Noura! We need to explore what stammering means- beyond experts' interpretation...
Amit, with his Hindi skills could be a great help..
Best wishes!
Great initiative Noura. We need to explore why a stammerer does not feel at home with a group of Fluents despite having so many other qualities/experties in his own areas.
Good luck for the workshop.
I hope this workshop takes place after 10th of June. I would love to attend.
