KINARE

Hi everyone,

It has been a long time since I have written something for TISA. Today a very important part of my life brings me here.

My journey with TISA began like most of ours. A random day of excessively low self esteem it was. Since then, my journey till date has been a smooth and satisfying one. Each piece of work that I read here taught me LIFE in bits and pieces. Some sharing the pressure stammering creates, some dedicated to how stammering molded them to be far better beings, some detailing the hard work, learning and fun involved in a particular SHG meet or a workshop; and the list goes on.
Needless to say, TISA is making all of us grow better in one way or the other.

A few months back I knocked at the doors of TISA (well virtually.. ;) ) for a really important  event of my life.

The Event was what we stutterers, as job seeking youngsters, fear the most. “An Interview”.

I, like many of you, had gone through many job interviews all prepared theoretically, but most unprepared, as far as handling stammering was concerned. All, but one of those previous interviews were a fail. But this upcoming interview was really very important for me. I was not ready to accept failure at this. I was ready to do anything that I possibly could to make it work my way.
Through my request here on TISA I got in contact with Sachin Sir and under his able guidance, that none of us here needs an introduction to, I was able to build that much needed confidence within myself.

After all the hard work that I and everyone concerned for me had put in, I was able to sail through the interview really well.

What followed this fantastic interview was a four months long wait. And as wise men say it :

“Sabr ka fal meetha hota hai.”

Believe me, that was the sweetest “fal” of all that I had ever tasted.

One fine morning my phone started ringing at an odd hour. My heart started thumping, for I knew it was about the interview result. Avoiding the call, I reached my laptop as soon as I could, switched it on and logged in to check my result.

And….

There it was…..

Finally….Joy…..

Finally…..Happiness….

Finally…..Success…..

I had made it.

A Probationary Officer at Punjab National Bank.

I was shivering with joy. I was deliriously happy. My parents too were overjoyed.
Every bit of effort was paid off giving a new direction to my life.
In the evening I called Sachin Sir to share the good news. He too was elated on hearing the good news and congratulated me not once but many times.

I actually felt that I had made people proud of myself. That was a great feeling that I will not be able to put in words but I knew that I had done it.

This is what I wanted to share with all of you. I also want to thank everyone who wished me luck and infused even the slightest of courage in me to face the interview like a brave heart.

I have always been an ardent follower of the practice of encouraging people and this is what I believe TISA follows.

If by any chance you are a person who is in the same position as I initially was, I request you to BELIEVE. Believe in yourself. Take the leap of faith. Try to break the wall.

There is a lot of light outside and you have the potential to outshine every bit of that light.

All you have to do is… “BELIEVE”.

In the end there is one last thing that I want to share with you people.
I usually listen to songs while writing. While jotting the pervious paragraph I surprisingly came across a beautiful song that I had never heard before. I heard it just once and loved it. Its Kinare from the movie Queen.

Usually I have to think the title of my post over and over again, once I am done writing.
This time I guess I don’t have to.

P.S : This marks the begining of a new life. I still need everyone's warm wishes and blessings for even higher mountains need to be annexed.  Once again  a big Thank you to everyone.

Good post Priya, Wishing you a great experience in this new journey of life.

Breaking the wall is a long path and I have seen at times people do not have enough patience and they just leave the path in between.

Its really long journey for any PWS to reach state where she will not feel any shame or guilt regarding her stuttering and I believe from that state the actual cure starts. Keep believing in your self and keep pushing yourself our of your comfort zone. Have a great life ahead

Congratulations Priya for getting job in a bank owned by Govt of India.
I know how difficult it is to get bank job even for a normal speaking person.
TISA is really proud of you. You are the role model for all young pws.
All the best to you priya.

I think you were aware that TISA is running women's whatsapp group. At present, there are nine members and mostly are college students.
You can also join in that group and give your advise to them for their benefits.

Heartiest congratulations Priya on cracking banks PO exam. Please share your success story in all the possible forums and never fail to add that you are a recovered PWS.This will be a big encouragement for other PWS who are struggling to get a job. And one personal request having cleared the PO exam, don't sit in your comfort zone. Always try to find out the occasions for coming out of your comfort zones.Remember this is a life long continuous exercise. You have reminded me of my old days when I got my first job in a PSU in 1987. I can well feel your emotions.
All the best once again Priya.
Keep achieving higher heights.
Keep smiling and be happy.
