Delhi SHG Report 9/3/2014

Hello everyone,

This is the first time that I am posting a report about any Delhi shg meet.
It was a slightly chilly morning and the gigantic Tiranga at the Central Park was flapping in the wind...
This meeting was a really special one in our shg's history, and was attended by , Avinash, vishal, jagbir sir, sikander sir, amit dixit sir, jitender, sumit (new member), jagdish (myself), shubham , aakash , ashmeet singh , ravikant, chetan and shobhit.

We began our meeting at around 10 am, at Central Park , Rajiv Chowk. We did exercises , like  ,
- Introduction round,
- In-depth discussion of Acceptance and various speech techniques,
- Discussion of the triumphant moments in our lives. The new member , Sumit , was particularly excited to share his great moment about standing up against a teacher who wouldn't take him in a quiz team, because he stuttered. We were all so pleased to hear that he participated and his team came first in all the various levels...

We had to cut short on the meeting, as we had to leave for a very special meeting, with the Navneet Hindi Toastmasters Club, at the Natya Ballet Centre , at Bhai Veer Singh Marg.

All the members of delhi shg, attended the Toastmasters Meeting as guests.
This was the only Hindi Toastmasters club in the world.

The Honorable Members of the Club ( Mr. Harish , Mr. Ashwini, Mr. Abhinav, Mr. Purushottam, Mr. Jagmohan, Mr. Shishpal , Ms. Nupur) allowed us with the great opportunity to participate in the meet.

First, we were asked to introduce ourselves before the meeting began. We were all so amazed at the great speeches and confidence displayed by the speakers there. They had many rounds of prepared speeches.

The most interesting round was the impromptu speeches where any one of us was called upon, and asked to pick up a paper, which had a topic written on it, and we had to speak on that topic.
The theme of the meeting was Holi, and so the topics were ever so interesting , like "holi - bhabhi ke sang", "holi - saali ke sang" , "holi - hone waali biwi ke sang " etc..
Everybody was filled with joy and laughter in this round. With unanimous votes, it was our very own Akash, who won the prize for the best impromptu speech , for his humorous speech on holi with his saalis...:D

In the last round , we had to evaluate the best speakers and evaluators..and agenda for next meet was discussed.

It was an opportunity for great fun and learning for us stutterers. The members were kind and supportive, and welcomed anyone to join their club, and promised us that we could speak like them, with a year's practice...
The main purpose of  going to the Club was to learn and broaden our understanding of confident delivery of speech.

I hope many of the other PWS, join and benefit from TISA and the Toastmasters organization...

Jagdish.
