Moving ahead in life...need your comments please!!!

I have returned back from a decent trip to Herbertpur to my workplace. And, I have always experienced a bit inclined in hesitations and blocks whenever I resume my office after a vacation.

It is not a new experience for me!! In past, it happened to me a number of times and gradually, things had become normal with time.

This has been a closed loop around which my life is revolving from last few years.

But now, I am thinking to take a bold decision. As I am not enjoying in this present job and want to move ahead, so I am thinking to quit the job and spend 4-6 months to work on my communication skills as well as nourish my preparations for my future plans.

My future plans include many options such as :-

  1. Going abroad for job if possible. I am a textile professional and there are not much opportunities in this sector abroad.
  2. Going abroad for studies.
  3. Higher studies in India such as management
  4. To become a speech language pathologist as I think being a stammerer, I can help fellow stammerers in a better way.

So, what you think my fellow stammering friends??

Leave your job only when you have a good alternative in HAND!
Other than that- your plans are GREAT!
Life is all about risk taking, change, growth and moving on (even from stammering concerns)..

hi bro, nice to here that u can analyze ur loop of life ,without breaking a constant loop u can't progress, so u need to break this.
year back i read eckhat tolle there was a concept of pain body which says that just like water and food our body too need pain(negative emotions)to survive, and it create environment to produce pain. From my past 2 year experience meditation is the best way to minimize body need for pain. so what i suggest u that take a break join vipassna ,practice it for 6 month(daily,no break) then ask urself that what you should do next.believe me ur soul know what to do next ,u just to reach toward it.

how will quitting your job help you achieve your goals?

unless you have financially or professional options leave your job only when you have an alternative.

Communication, spiritual, professional growth can go hand in hand with work unless it is very demanding.

Since its a big decision..i recommend you to Do a SWOT ANALYSIS ..and give sufficient points to what your gut feels says..and then justify it with your abilities..

All the best !!

JP has taken sabbatical leave for 6 moths from Infosys and spent with Sachin. After that he resigned his job and now started his own business. Of course he is yet to be married and his parents are helping. I do not know about you and your financial sustainability. There are lot of opportunities in this vast world and do not worry about getting new jobs.If you want to take 6 months leave, I would suggest you to spend atleast 2 months with Sachin. I spent just one week with him at Chennai. I learned so much from him which I am applying in everyday life. Also try to attend lot of SHG meetings and travel a lot. I advise you to learn some techniques for better communication, practice it daily and master it. Lastly take decision what is your inner conscious says and act accordingly. Pl do not blame others. Hear others advice but your decision is final. The mantra for any success is HARD WORK. HARD WORK. HARD WORK. Yes.Only hard work will yield the required result. All the best.

As already discussed with you Dear Ashish, escapism is not a solution for any problem. Rather it aggravates. Moreover we can not learn swimming by remaining out of water. Remain in society with all your courage and challenge the situations. See how it gets evaporated. This way it has helped me and hope it will work on you too.
All the Best. Spare some time to attend SHG meet at chandigarh.

Ashish, your article is thought provoking and it reflects the thought-process of many fellow PWS.

4 years ago, I went to my manager and asked for a sabbatical leave. I was really sick of going to office! I said, I will teach few subjects in a private institute and theryby will improve
on my stammering. My request was dismissed. I was neither firm on my proposal nor I was in any position to threaten with any consequences if my request is not met.

I suggest, you immerse yourself completely in work - start working as if your life is at stake. As we become good at what we are doing we begin to enjoy the work. Soon
recognition will start pouring-in and it will give you a sense of fulfillment/belonging.
Even in weekends if you have nothing else then work! It is better to work than to worry.
The principle is to cut all the "worry time" and starve the stuttering mind.

In short, do justice to work on hand (new or current), get some diverse experience of life by following few tried and tested techniques like Vipassana, attend TISA events/SHGs and whenever you find free time put that for MBA preparation! :-)

All the best!
