Report of Bengaluru SHG meeting on 3rd February.

Hello Everyone....
Here is the report of  Bengaluru SHG meeting on 3rd February.
Attendance: Abhinav, Sairam, Chandrashekar, Praveen,Kishan, Subodh, Arun, Jitu, Kishore, Nayeem, Rahul, Puja, Vivek and myself Chandan.   (Timings : 10-30a.m. to 1-30p.m.)

Meeting kicked off at 10-30a.m in the usual SHG center  Today, Bengaluru SHG ship was sailed by our captain Adventurous Abhinav.  We begin the day with the slow reading practice from the members for about 20 minutes. Next, we had brief round of introduction from all the members. Along with the introduction, each member were asked, to answer the following question: What do you expect from Self Help Group…? Answers of each member were quite interesting. Some answers were like - to improve and concentrate on our communication skill, rather than on stammering. To get rid off the fear, while presenting any topic. And someone pointed on the development of leadership skill and management skill, which is indirectly developed by organising SHG meetings every week. The common answer from all the members was of-course to minimize our stammering or to overcome our stammering.

Next, we started Toastmaster style prepared speech, as per the agenda of the day announced in the beginning of the meeting. Today we had 5 prepared speeches from the participants. First was my turn, I gave speech on “Non-Violent Communication, a language of life”. Second speaker of the day was Chandrasekhar. He talked on Kannada language legendary poet “Sarvajna.” His descriptions of Kannada poem with English translation were outstanding. He explained the important aspects of our life in simplified manner. Next, Arun talked on the various types of “TAXES in India”. It was an catchy and  enlightening topic to all of us. Fourth speaker was Praveen, who shared his experiences of the Flagship program, he recently attended. Final speaker of the day was Nayeem. He gave speech on FEARS OF LIFE. Each speaker was evaluated by the respective evaluator at the end of all speech.

We then had Impromptus speech session, conducted by myself. It was a pertinent opportunity for pws, who didn't give prepared speech in the meeting. Most of the speaker was adroit at dealing with the given topic and the session was blended with thin line of humor from the speakers. Lastly, we had fun round conducted by Sairam. It is a form of game with perplexed rules. When anchor (Sairam) asks some question to participant, he/she should not give the relevant or correct answer for the question. Instead, he should respond irrelevant answers to the question and he cannot use the single word in his answer (like Yes or No). Like this, question will be pouring on participant until he gives the relevant answer for a question. It was kind of game which checked participant alertness and consciousness. The fun game was filled with mere confusion and laughter. The confidence factor of pws was discussed among the pws and we wrapped up the day with following notion:

All power is within you. You can do anything and everything. Believe in that. Do not believe that you are weak; do not believe that you are half-crazy lunatics, as most of us do nowadays. Stand up and express the divinity within you.”

Feedback and suggestions are always welcome to improve quality of meetups. Please mail me at chandan.rvce@gmail.com or to Abhinav - abhinav.singh8@yahoo.com

From Sarvajna to Taxes! Wow! I actually googled and found this Tripadi, which applies to TISA greatly:
"
"All-knower has not become All-knower merely out of vanity
he learnt one bit of information from everyone
and became a veritable mountain of knowledge"

Banglore SHG is doing a very wise thing: rotating responsibility of group facilitation to all its members. This is truly empowering and important for long term sustainability of the group..
Congrats everyone!

Yes, Sachin Sir..... Sarvajna's tripadi is simple with great meaning...... We were fortunate to study about his poem in skul days, but unfortunately his work is becoming obsolete day by day......
