I reached at the venue exactly at 10:30 AM, but no one was available. Soon I was joined by Rakesh and Amit. Later were joined by young Karan and Suraj. Soon we were seven IPWS joined in a room meditating. Continued meditation for 10 mins and started with Impromptu speeches. I gave each member a topic related to Independence to talk for atleast 2 mins after 2 mins of preparing. Independence, BTW was the theme of the day.
I should say each member performed quite well. I then in turn evaluated each one of them based on the content and delivery, viz: strong and valid points, body language, eye contact and voice projection etc. Hopefully the members benefitted from my critical evaluation. Since many of them are students who are going to join corporate world.
I then, with the help from Sanjeet, elucidated various speech techniques. We then did a round of story telling and practicing sessions. Later, Rakesh told his problems in professional life. He faces problems particularly while interacting with clients on phone. Sanjeet and I advised him to practice various breathing and speech techniques before speaking on phone. Suraj expressed his difficulty of answering an interview question: “Can you tell me something about yourself?”. Ironical as it may sound, this question tends to put most of the PWS under tremendous pressure. I told him we all faced the same problem at some point or the other in our lives. We cited the example of Amit S who went through the same struggle and eventually found himself a plum job.
With this and many smiling faces, all of us parted ways promising to meet again at the same time and venue, next week. Till then, over and out.

Manohar- great start!
Now you have a bench mark!
Hello,
It was my first SHG meeting. It was really a great experience. Manohar, Sanjeet n all the guys are very helpful and really working hard. I am sure this SHG will be very useful to me to improve my speech fluency. I feel twice the confident after the first meet itself. I may stammer now but I will learn to be comfortable with it. This surely will reduce the burden and the self-consciousness.
Thanks a lot to Dr. Sachin, Manohar and the whole team behind this.
And I am sorry for reaching late on the venue. I couldn't locate the venue so wasn't able to reach on time.
See you all next week, till then I'll keep practicing the techniques and continue reading the self help manual.
Have a great time.. :-)
