Essentially the idea is: most of our problems, including stammering, takes place when we are NOT in control, when we are not aware of our thoughts and actions, reactions. If somehow, through practice and strong determination, we could bring awareness into these moments of "automatic action-reaction", we will be able to chose better options, healthier thoughts. It needs some practice and a supportive community. Time is passing, no matter what we do or dont. So, why not check it out? Let us know what you find.
