Best use of my time?

Today, Dayal, a young friend, came over to Herbertpur and we went for some khana peena at -mind you- Divine Restaurant! Yes, that is the name of this nice little eating place near my home. Just opened up. He asked me: Should I continue my one hour practice? He was talking about his one hour slow reading practice at home.

After finishing the Chicken pulao, I said: You will benefit a lot more by talking to strangers every day, even if you do it just for five minutes. But these strangers must be tough kind of people to talk to. Everyday talking to a new vegetable seller will not help!

We both laughed. Then, I said: And someday you must talk to your boss, or the girl you have been looking at with great interest. Right? And right now, why dont you thank these people sitting at the reception for the great food?

Dayal was game and he took up the challenge very well- good eye contact, smile, relaxed bouncing... After all these years, I dont know whether stammerers are really more intelligent than others- or not. But I know one thing: You have got to be truly intelligent to step out of stammering mindset. Because this mindset, like a Rootkit virus- knows a billion ways of stopping you, deflecting you, from doing what really helps: conquering your fears. You could continue reading aloud year after year, without ever confronting these deep hidden fears..  If you have made up your mind to deal with these fears, once for all, come to Delhi for 2nd and 3rd April, for Inami Dangal..
(PS: Sorry for the poor AV sync of the video above)

Well written. No practice will help, unless we accept our stammering and work on our fears. That itself is the reason why most of these therapies are no showing results!
