Very First Interview

As i have told already, my placement has started. Written was cleared also and next step was to be interviewed. I was neither very disturbed nor excited. It was all like a deep part of ocean where everything seems at peace.Normally people has a very anxious attitude when they appear for the interview. I was also craving for that anxiety but what i was experiencing, was calmness of mind. No worry what i will speak there? or will i stammer or not?.

I have practiced my introduction and other answers a night before with my roommates. As i was sitting in the line, waiting for my turn. i saw people. They were very silent. I started talking to the guy sitting next to me. He told me about himself and all other and suddenly my name was called.
I was directed to my interviewer by a volunteer. I entered myself to the room. Same ritual happened then. I said hello. He told me to sit down and introduce myself. I introduced and he asked whether i have some problem?" I told him yes i stammer and i am taking required measurements to control it. he said, "okay." Story is very happily going till now. Isn't it? So now If you have started to think that this story has a very happy ending and i got the job. Well, you can't be more wrong.
After that he excused himself and went somewhere. When he returned, after doing some "idhar-udhar",  He told me that he cannot take me as i am not able to communicate well. I could have told him the definition of communication or asked him which part of an engineer's job includes a lot of communication. But i already knew that they were only looking for good communication skills as many of my friends with good knowledge was not selected because of bad speaking skills. So in spite of bashing him, i decided to leave it. But i did tell him about TISA and asked him to tell anyone who stammers about it. Then i wished him to have a good day.
What i liked the most was my ability to look him directly in the eye whether i was stammering or not. I was calm. From outside and inside, both.

P.S. I have another interview of Infosys tomorrow. May god be with me. Let's cross our finger and pray that shobhit gets the job. ;)

God is always with you. Just make sure you are with you - that you are calm and reasonable, as you were in this last interview... Just the beginning of a great adventure called life. Smile...

Nice one. Hope you would have been selected in Infosys by now :). That interviewer was ignorant and you did good thing by letting him know about TISA. To add on from my personal experience, whenever a interviewer used to reject me on basis of Stammering, I used to ask him just one question : What's common between Gandhiji, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Hritihk Roshan, Winston Churchill , Bruce Willis and Elvis Presley? They all had stammering. And believe me, that person used to feel guilty for being rude.
