Delhi SHG Meeting Report of 30th March

** Delhi SHG Meeting Report **

Venue: Jantar Mantar
Timings: 10:30 to 1:30

Hello All,
So this time the Delhi SHG meeting was scheduled in central park at 10:30 am. This was my first meeting and I must confess I was a will a little nervous (and excited at the same time) but after meeting everyone and the amazingly open and friendly atmosphere I felt as if I had known

everyone for a long time and that made me feel really comfortable. We decided to shift the meeting to Jantar Mantar due to some ‘distractions’ in central park and as we thought there would be more space there. There were 12 members(Ashmeet, Amit, Vishnu, Sikander, Jitender, Jitender Nimbekar, Amit Singh, Sahil, Jagbir, Garvit, Vishal) present and the host was Jitendar. He thoroughly explained the agenda for the day and the reasoning behind each activity brilliantly. After that we all introduced ourselves briefly to the group. The two first timers were Sahil (me) and Amit Singh. Post that Jagbir sir took over and the entire group did a short 5 minute Vipassna meditation and felt very calm and peaceful after it. On hindsight, we all agreed that the meetings should start with a short meditation before anything else, to make us calm and take a break from our daily hustle bustle.

After that Vishal shared his experience of recovery about how to recover from a bad incident of stammering and not let it get you down. Also Sumit told us a funny story. Finally we ended the meeting with discussions on topics written down on pieces of paper by everybody. The topics ranged from corruption, politics, missing Malaysian airplane, and movie reviews etc. And we followed this up with a casual group discussion on ‘trains vs buses’ and everyone had their own experiences and important views to be on the topic. Vishal was the moderator and he gave valuable feedback to everyone on their speech and their strong and weak points.

Overall it was an awesome experience. This was probably the first time where I actually met people who have the same stammering problem as me and I was glad to know I was not alone. The group also decided that we need to look for a room to hold our meetings since Delhi summers will make it near impossible to have meetings outdoors in the coming months. If anyone out there has any sources it will be of great help.
And on that note, goodbye.

‘Haklao magar pyaar se’

thank you !!!!
Sahil

Hi Sahil,

You could try to contact the YMCA there. Goa SHG holds their meetings in the YCMA, and Mumbai SHG has just partnered with the YMCA (although we're still in discussion). I'd be happy to share more with you or the SHG leader of Delhi.

As them to contact me at dhruvg05@gmail.com or 9930693364.

Great post! All the best,

Dhruv

12 members attending SHG meeting is really a great achievement.
As Dhruv suggested, you can approach YMCA, Churches, schools etc. They will definitely help. SHG meting held in a closed room is always better.
As usual, Delhi SHG rocks.Pl keep it up.
