TISA announces next 3 day Free Comm WS, tentatively planned for 09-11 August (Fri-Sun) at Herbertpur, Dehradun.

For whom? It is meant for young Indian people who stammer (IPWS) and especially those who have not been in touch with TISA. Some participants from the previous CommWS may also join. We recommend that you should attend at least 3-4 CommWS over one year, to ensure a deep and sustainable change in your attitude and communication.

Venue of workshop : Anugrah, Center for children with special needs, Inside the Lehman hospital compound, Herbertpur, Near Dehradun.

workshop timing: 9am to 5pm

Expenses: The workshop is free of charge. The costs for board-lodging and food will be born by the participant, which is around 400/- per day (lesser if hotel room is shared etc.).

                    TISA activites or any other speech therapy taken) to find out your eligibility for this workshop.

Confirmation: When you apply, you will get a confirmation within 3-4 days from Hemant or sachin about your eligibility and your seat in the workshop. This screening is being done to ensure that your needs are met and that the group is similar enough to allow group dynamics. Please send your PNR number or a copy of your e-ticket to Hemant (below) to indicate that you are attending this workshop, as soon as possible (with copy to sachin). Number of participants in this workshop is limited to maximum 15, so please register early.

Reaching Vikasnagar:

Herbertpur, a very small town, is on Dehradun-Chandigarh highway (NH72), 40 km from Dehradun, near Paonta Sahib (just 12 km away). Participants can reach herbertpur by road from Chandigarh(via Nahan) and as well as from Jagadhari, haryana. or by train via Dehradun. Vikash nagar is just 3 Km away from herberpur.

 From outside of Dehradun  Railway station you can get sharing auto or mini bus for Prem Nagar , and from prem nagar , so many buses available for vikash nagar every moment or Taxi stand is just out side Dehradun railway station; a car (5 people) for Vikasnagar (Hotel Guru-Kripa) will cost about Rs 800-900. Share your phone numbers in the comment section below- coordinate your arrival and share a car. Otherwise,or  you can take an auto from Dehradun Railway station to ISBT (Bus stand) ( or ) for Rs 80-100.

From ISBT, you will get many buses going to Vikasnagar. Any bus going to Chandigarh, Paonta Sahib, Nahan, Shimla, Chakrata- is very likely to pass through Herbertpur / Vikasnagar.

What to bring? If you play a musical instrument, bring it, if you can. Also, bring a pen and a diary. If possible, bring a laptop, a pen-drive and a phone-camera, with video function. Among fifteen people, if just 4 participants brought a laptop and a USB data modem, it will be enough. So, leave comment below and coordinate, as to who can bring what, conveniently. Just four will be enough. And yes, above all, dont forget to pack in some courage, sense of adventure and spirit of inquiry. These qualities will help you make the most of these three days.

Workshop pedagogy: Workshop creates an atmosphere where participants learn from each other. So, everyone is a teacher as well as a student. Facilitators only create situations and graded challenges. So, you are responsible for your learning. You are also responsible for PRACTISING what you learn after return.The 3 day workshop only tells you that Change is possible and some of the ways you can go about it. It is you who must practice it on return. But how? many ways of practising AFTER workshop, are discussed in AHJ, which will be used as course book.

Home work: Before you arrive, please send your brief bio to Hemant, to be put up on this blog (we will leave out personally identifiable information- dont worry) and submit your opinion on AHJ , after reading it. We will be using AHJ as a course book for the workshop. Before you come, we will set up a Google chat (courtesy- Vishal), or a skype session (courtesy- Karthik) to discuss what this workshop can acheieve in 3 days- and what you need to do AFTER the workshop.
