Bangalore SHG January 13, 2013 meetup report

Hello all,
Here is report of 2nd meetup of year 2013.

Attendees - Anshuman, Chandan, Praveen, Subodh, Sairam, Jitu, Venkatesh (new member) and myself Abhinav

Guests - Mrs Raji and Mr Vijay kumar

We started at sharp 10:30 AM. Today we had Mrs Raji and her husband Mr Vijay with us. Mrs Raji is teacher and working on project report for community based rehabilitation as part of her BEd program. It was good to have Venkatesh also with us.

We started with general questions and answers round so that our guests and Venkatesh can get feel of what all activities we do in SHG and how it has impacted many PWS. It was long QnA round :). After that we started with slow reading of "Apna hath Jaganaath" SHG manual for around 45 minutes. We read chapter 9 "Self Motivation & Beyond" and yeah these lines are still in my mind

"Let no one tell you otherwise. Its not their business. Draw a bigger line in your life, excel at what you do, reach out  to others, make your life meaningful. Look inwards-not outwards for any approval"

After slow reading Subodh gave Icebreaker speech, it was awesome speech. Subodh has improved a lot in overall communication (one of the good sides of attending SHG every week :) ). After prepared speeches we had table topic session for impromptive speech and every member spoke for around 2-3 minutes. After that we had good debate on if we should invite  speech therapists(some speech therapists may be interested in social service) in our SHG or if we should go to speech therapists.

Thats all from Bangalore SHG this week. Overall good meetup, we always enjoy when we all meet.See you all next week :)
