Today's Stuttering Quotes (18.05.2013)

DEVELOP A HIERARCHY OF SITUATIONS

Let’s tackle the problem. How do you go about achieving
these goals? Plan to go at it easily but in an organized
way with determination.

You may want to start by systematically tackling one
rule at a time. Possibly work on one which would be easy
and then take the next hardest.

Develop a hierarchy of situations and assignments.
That is to say, begin by going from the easiest situation
and work your way up. In this way, you gain confidence
as you move ahead.

Make a list of 5 to 10 speaking situations going from
the easiest to the hardest.

1. Talking when alone or with a pet (easiest)
2. Talking with a close friend
3. Ordering in a restaurant
4. Making a phone call to a friend
5. Making a phone call to a stranger
6. Having a conversation at work
7. Participating in a meeting at work (hardest)

You will need to develop your own hierarchy as the
points listed here may not be right for you.

(From the book of Self-Help-Therapy by Malcolm Fraser)
