January 4, 2010

Hi All, at the outset, i wish you all a very exciting new year 2010 ahead:)
we all met on 03 Jan 2010, with great enthusiasm. We had some new members joining our group, and some old faces coming in with new vigor. We were around eight of us, met at the usual venue. we had a nasty auto strike that threw the lives of commuting public out of gear. Before starting from home, I sent a text to all those I knew who might need a ride. And felt happy about myself, at least I was willing to help in these contemporary and nihilistic days.

We started with some exercises and meditation. Next we were supposed to have a slow reading session but unfortunately nobody remembered to bring a reading material along. This was an opportunity in disguise for some of us waiting to break through and to speak their heart and mind out. Just a nudge was enough to start with an introduction round. There was this guy called Mr VS (first timer) who started off brilliantly. A strong and chubby man, around 5.6 Ft tall bespectacled bloke stole the rest of the session. People like RM and YR (acclaimed singers) were coaxed by the audience to sing few lines of their favorite song. We all were left delighted with the lilting voice of the duo. One could only feel pleased to see people have so much talent, waiting to be discovered.

After a round of introduction session, we started with the extempore session. One of the reasons I make sure I attend the SHG meets is to get a new perspective of things around. We get to learn so much more about people, attitudes, spirituality etc. Mr VS spoke about matter and anti-matter in beautiful way. He gave us some real insights about the physics, very valuable.

Then we had Ms YR who spoke at length about the career choices she had earlier in life and where she ended up eventually. She confessed however, that whatever had happened has indeed happened for her good. That was a relief:). She spoke so effortlessly that Mr VS compelled to question her presence in the SHG meet meant for stutterers. Then she had explained the circumstances that strain her vocal chords, which was very similar to all of us.

We then had Mr. RM who as usual had spoken about the speech patterns, how it can be rectified, and spiritual practices. Ms YR raised an interesting question about the past life experiences and any correlation of it with the present life speech disorders. Everyone (including me) immediately went into a tizzy wondering what hit us. No one ever did think that earlier. Mr RM revealed that it might have some correlation, spoke about the regression therapy, Hypnotists and quacks. He narrated his personal experience of meeting a hypnotist with high expectations and returning disappointed. Ms YR was so interested in such a therapy that she actually asked the address of that Hypnotist, then and there. This topic was enough for the three most eminent and aggressive speakers Ms YR, Mr RM and Mr VS to talk and discuss endlessly. I could not find a reason to obstruct them because of the sheer content and sense they were talking. I allowed them to continue talking and listened carefully so that I could absorb and use it for my speech difficulty.

All in all, a great session to start a new year.

PS: “Imperfections is what makes us human.” So do not fret even if you are imperfect, at least you are human.

I am so happy to read this post- At last women are coming out into the open. Society mistakenly thinks that stammering is exclusively a male phenomena. So, many young girls are forced to hide their issues and struggles- and live a life of constant hiding and fear. The lady deserves much praise. Plesae keep coming- even if just to encourage others, especially girls.
