Delhi shg meeting 13 November 2011

Tisa’s delhi shg meeting held at central park in delhi as usual. Metting was attend by six members Sikander, Pramendera, Abhishek, Umesh, Pinakin and Tijo Thomas. Tijo was a new member who was planning to take speech therapy but on suggestion of mr. Nitin tomer, he joined our group. He might surprise to see what weird things we do there. Tijo had mild stammering problem and I really appreciate his good listening skills and positive approach to listen the severe stammering. This meeting was after a long gap for me (after Tisa’s workshop on 22 oct). Today when I was preparing to go in meeting, a thought came in my mind -“Theek se haklaye bhahut din ho gye, aaj haklane jana hai”. Actually this line told by my one of mine friend in delhi workshop ( name dosn’t need to mention otherwise he will be more happy). Ok, so what we did this time. After little introduction of everyone, first we shared our experiences after workshop in our daily life. What new challenges and changes we were feeling now? Then we did a round of voluntary stuttering. After this, we made a group discussion on a topic “Is stuttering should be declared a disability or not in India?” as we know, it also ended without a good conclusion.
At last sikander sir told us about slow speaking rate. Each of us read a book for a minute one bye one; and find our speaking rate high or low. One last activity, that I can’t miss to mention here. Sikander sir told us to go to a group of girls to educate them about stuttering. Everyone step behind, I gave excuse that I can’t go because these are beautiful girls ( mujh jaise handsome ladke ki tho bejajjati hi ho jayegi). Parmendra took the initiative and approached them to speak. I was watching him by nearby. Once he stuck badly on a word and one girl started to laugh but he did not lose his courage. Spoke again and told them what they should do if they talk to any other like him. Immediately girl shut up and feels sorry. I appreciate his guts and gave a pet on his back. We missed Lalit and gaurav.

Thanks Umesh for posting the brief analysis of the meeting. I had a great there. Attending the meeting gives me pleasure and satisfaction that I am doing something for stammering. Sachin sir, Whatever I am doing is just because of being inspired and motivated by you. you always give us the right direction and suggestions.
